Located in the heart of Southern Utah, St. George welcomes millions of travelers from around the world every year—and for good reason! With several national and state parks, beautiful golf courses, a variety of museums, and so much more, there’s something for everyone to enjoy during a St. George vacation.

We’re here to help you plan a getaway in the best rental properties St. George UT has to offer. Keep reading to learn five things to do during your stay in one of Sunny Vacation Rentals’ Southern Utah properties.

1. Day Trip to Zion National Park

It’s no secret that Zion National Park is one of Southern Utah’s most popular attractions. This national park is ranked the third most popular park in the U.S. If you’ve never had the chance to marvel at Zion’s red rock peaks, this is a must-see during your St. George vacation.

Zion is just a thirty-minute drive from St. George vacation rentals, which makes it easy to enjoy a day trip or two during your visit. If this is your first time in the park, consider starting with a ride on the Zion Canyon Shuttle. This shuttle ferries guests through Zion’s Lower Canyon for most of the year, when this part of the park closes to vehicle traffic. Nine stops along the shuttle route help you visit some of the park’s most popular hiking trails and viewpoints.

If you’re looking for an easy hike, the Riverside Walk is a great choice. This short trail is located at the last shuttle stop and will give you a view of the start of one of the park’s most popular trails, The Narrows. This more challenging trail requires hikers to trek up or downstream through the Virgin River, into the narrowest part of Zion Canyon.

Another popular trail is Angels Landing. Thanks to this difficult trail’s popularity, you’ll need to enter one or both of the two lotteries to try for a permit to hike it. If you book one of our St. George UT rentals far enough in advance, you can enter the Seasonal Lottery, which opens four times a year and awards permits for the following year. But if you book a more last-minute trip, you can also enter the Day-Before Lottery for another chance at getting a permit.

2. Hit the Trails in Snow Canyon State Park

You don’t need to drive to Zion during your stay in the best rental properties St. George UT has to offer to enjoy hiking and other outdoor activities. Snow Canyon State Park is a stunning park just minutes away from St. George. In any other state, the incredible canyons, sandstone cliffs, and challenging hiking trails would have earned this property national park status. But don’t let the state park title fool you; Snow Canyon is an outdoor enthusiast’s paradise.

The park is home to more than 16 miles of hiking trails in a variety of difficulty levels. If you’re looking for something even more challenging, you can also enjoy rock climbing and mountain biking in the park. Despite the name, the park rarely sees snow, and enjoys mild winter weather, making it a great stop for an off-season St. George vacation.

3. Get in 18 Holes at Beautiful Copper Rock Golf Course

If a round of golf is a must during your stay in our St. George vacation rentals, you’re in luck. With a number of chic luxury properties located at Copper Rock Golf Course, it’s easy to squeeze in a few rounds during your visit.

This course has been voted the Best Golf in Southern Utah by locals in back-to-back-to-back years. Enjoy 18 holes of pristine greens surrounded by picturesque desert landscapes. You’ll kick off your round with a challenging par 5 stretching more than 500 yards. Strategic bunkers set the tone for a memorable round.

4. Step Back in Time and See Real Dinosaur Tracks

Whether you have a dinosaur enthusiast in your travel party or not, the St. George Dinosaur Discovery Site is a stop everyone will enjoy. Step inside this museum to take a step back in time more than 200 million years. The museum is built on the location of a set of preserved dinosaur tracks that were discovered in 2000. Today, it houses a variety of fossils and interactive exhibits that explore the ancient history of Southern Utah.

The museum, including the dinosaur tracks, is housed in an air-conditioned building. This makes it a great choice if you’re looking for an indoor activity on a hot day.

5. Stroll the Red Hills Desert Garden

When you’re looking to enjoy a relaxing afternoon stroll during your St. George vacation, make sure to stop by the Red Hills Desert Garden. Utah’s first conservation garden, this 5-acre property features more than 5,000 local plants. Each plant has been chosen for being water-efficient.

A bubbling stream flows through the garden and is stocked with native and endangered fish species. Make your way through a replica of the slot canyons located throughout the region. Look for the replica dinosaur tracks that mimic those you’ll see at the St. George Dinosaur Discovery Site.
