Two LPGA Events Coming to Copper Rock Golf Course

If you need another reason to plan a visit to Southern Utah this spring, the upcoming LPGA events are just the ticket. Hosted at the beautiful Copper Rock Golf Course, this unprecedented doubleheader is set to bring tough competition and incredible talent to the region.

LPGA Epson Copper Rock Championship

First up is the LPGA Epson Copper Rock Championship. The Copper Rock Championship welcomes over 100 players from around the world each year. This year’s event is taking place from May 13 to 18. This championship was created to elevate and celebrate the talents of women, both on and off the greens. The event has been Utah’s only women’s professional golf event in Utah. Until this year when it will be joined by a second event.

This year, the event is part of the Epson Tour, which has been named the “Road to the LPGA.” The top 10 players in this tour will receive an LPGA Tour membership for the following year. In addition to celebrating the talents of these players, the Copper Rock Championship is on a mission to lessen the gender gap in women’s sports. That’s why they’ve partnered with Epson Tour to continue hosting this event through the year 2028, along with increasing the annual purse by $10,000. A pay equity initiative called Clyde Challenge is set to provide additional purse money.

This women-led event also supports rising players. Three sponsor exemptions are provided to players from three Utah universities. This includes students from Brigham Young University, Southern Utah University, and Utah Tech University. These players will have the chance to compete alongside professionals. The aim is to inspire and aid in the development of these young golfers.

LPGA 2024 Senior Championship

Every year, two senior women’s major tournaments are hosted in the U.S. For the very first time, one of this year’s two events is set to take place in Utah. The event kicks off with a qualifying tournament on May 20. Two professionals and the low amateur from the qualifying event will gain entry into the 2024 LPGA Senior Championship.

The LPGA 2024 Senior Championship will welcome LPGA Tour professionals as well as eligible amateurs age 45 or older. This is the seventh playing of the LPGA Senior event. Of the legends that could attend this event, there are 15 LPGA and World Golf Hall of Fame Members. Combined, these legends have more than 750 combined LPGA Tour victories, including 84 major championships.
